Our Story & Beliefs

The Crossing Story

We’re grateful for God’s faithfulness and all He’s done in and through The Crossing. Our story—like each of ours’—is still being written. We are excited and expectant to see what God has planned as we continue to spread the love of Jesus across Las Vegas and the world.

2000 - The Crossing Began

With the support of a committed group of volunteers, and the partnerships of Canyon Ridge Christian Church and Central Christian Church, Senior Pastor, Shane Philip opened the doors to The Crossing, a Christian Church, in September 2000 at Lawrence Junior High.

2003 - Moving + Expanding

As we grew, we moved to Sierra Vista High School in 2003.

2005 - A Permanent Home

In 2005, God opened the door to our permanent home on the Windmill Campus

2019 - The Crossing Midtown

From there, He expanded our reach with the launch of The Crossing Midtown in 2019, serving the heart of Las Vegas, just minutes from The Strip.

2023 - The Crossing Highlands

In 2023, we acquired what is now The Highlands Campus, serving the Southern Highlands and West Henderson communities.

OUR BELIEFS

What We Believe...

We believe that the Bible is the divinely preserved, and inspired Word of God.

(2 Timothy 3:16)

We believe God is eternally, and simultaneously both one and three: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

(John 17:11; 1 Corinthians 3:16)

We believe that Jesus Christ was, in the flesh, both God and man, that He died for our sins, and that He arose from the dead.

(John 1:1-14; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8)

We believe that every person has worth as a creation of God, but all have sinned, and fallen short of God’s perfection, making union with God by human effort impossible.

(Romans 3:23)

We believe that forgiveness of sin, and the promise of eternal life are available to all people who will accept the free gift of God’s grace through Jesus Christ.

(John 3:16-17)

We believe that those trusting Christ should repent of their sins, confess their faith, and be baptized into the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

(Acts 2:38; Matthew 28:19-20)

We believe that the church is the community of God, and the body of Christ on earth, and exists to reach those who are far from Christ and to disciple believers.

(Matthew 28:19-20)

We believe that Jesus Christ will one day return, as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, to take the church to heaven for eternity.

(I Thessalonians 4:13-18)

OUR MISSION

We exist to help people discover Jesus and the Journey.

The Crossing is a place where people from every age, race, and background come together to connect with God and discover hope in Jesus. It’s where the lost find a safe place to take their first steps of faith, and where stories of life-change are celebrated through baptism.

OUR VISION

Our church is committed to serving others—locally and globally—by caring for the poor, fighting injustice, planting new churches, and reaching the unreached. At The Crossing, we believe God is writing a bigger story of hope, healing, and transformation in our city and around the world.

We value the culture of intentional acceptance that Jesus created. We value His kind of unconditional love that accepts brokenness but encourages healing. Our community will point like a neon sign toward Jesus, and offer everyone an invitation to join our journey toward wholeness in Him.

We value the visible, never-ending, total transformation that the Holy Spirit longs to accomplish in every Christian. We celebrate the changes that take place in a person's heart and life as they surrender to Christ more and more.

We value the Bible as absolute, universal, timeless truth inspired by God. Everything we believe and everything we teach will always assume a Biblical worldview, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will interpret and apply scripture in a way that is understandable and relevant to our current culture.

We value authentic relationships that help us grow spiritually—where believers find both acceptance and accountability. We also pursue genuine friendships with those who don’t yet know Jesus, choosing to love unconditionally with no strings attached.

We value every believer’s service according to their God-given gifts, abilities and passions. Our community will operate with the expectation that everyone will regularly use what God has given them to accomplish what God has planned for our church, our community and the world.
