Three-Pieces of Eden

The Serpent
"Rex," the Snake, Provided by Madeline Carrescia
Genesis 3 introduces us to the serpent—the first glimpse of the enemy, the adversary, the one who despises humanity. Throughout Scripture, serpents and dragons often symbolize Satan, the great deceiver. The serpent was the first form he took to distract humanity, drawing their attention away from God and toward rebellion.
The Temptation
Fruit Provided by Some Grocery Store
No one truly knows what kind of fruit grew on the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil—but does it really matter? What matters is that this was the moment everything changed. Paradise was lost. The one command—"Do not eat from this tree." And yet, humanity couldn’t resist. Many place the blame solely on Eve, but read the Scriptures carefully… Adam was right there with her.
The Consequence
Created by Stella Thieman
The moment they ate the fruit, their eyes were opened. Suddenly, they felt shame—they felt exposed. Something they had never worried about before now consumed them. Scripture tells us their immediate response: they covered themselves and hid from God. Sound familiar? Isn’t that our first instinct when we realize we’ve sinned? Hide it. Cover it. Don’t let anyone see.

Jesus Is King

Painted by Adam Moss
One of the most breathtaking and awe-inspiring moments in Scripture is the vision of the Throne Room in the new creation. John, the author of Revelation, does his best to describe the indescribable—the slain Lamb, Jesus, seated on the throne. Jesus. Is. King. There is no question. He conquered evil and death, not through force, but through surrender—submitting to death itself. He wore a crown of thorns on the cross so that he could wear the crown of glory for all eternity.

As you read Revelation 4 and 5, it’s almost impossible not to be swept up in the majesty of the scene—the heavenly beings encircling the throne, crying out, “Holy, holy, holy.” There is no doubt that Jesus reigns supreme. But the question is—does he reign supreme in your life? Does he sit on the throne of your heart?

The Two Gardens

Painted by Eva Quiroz
There are two significant garden scenes in Scripture. The first is the Garden of Eden—the birthplace of creation. It was paradise, perfect in every way, where humanity walked in harmony with God. But as we know, that paradise was lost. When mankind chose the serpent’s temptation over God’s design, Eden was forfeited, and separation from God became reality.

The second garden appears centuries later, just moments before Jesus takes the cross to restore what was lost. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus brought his followers with him as he wrestled in prayer, pleading for another way to save humanity. Yet, in the end, he surrendered to the will of the Father. He took the cross, bore our sins, and made a way for us to be reunited with our Creator—to once again enter paradise.

God's Greatest Creation Mirror

"So God created mankind in his own image,
    in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them...

...God saw all that he had made, and it was very good."
Genesis 1:27, 31b (NIV)

Interactive "Tree of Life" Service Moment

For those of us who follow Jesus, have given our lives over to Him, named Him as our Lord and Savior, scripture says our names are written in the Book of Life. Revelation 21:27 says that only those whose names are written in the Book of Life will enter New Creation. If you are a follower of Jesus, you have named Him as your personal Lord and Savior, would you kindly write your name on a small slip of paper, and give it to the Museum Curators who are collecting them near the tables.
