Short Sermon Summary
Jacob spent his life trying to control outcomes, prove himself, and make a name for himself. But after wrestling with God, everything changes. Through surrender, Jacob receives a new name, a new identity, and a new way of walking through life—reminding us that our identity isn’t something we achieve; it’s something we receive from God.
What People Will Learn
Be honest about what has defined you — your past, failures, wounds, accomplishments, or other people’s words don’t have to determine who you are.
Let God tell you who you are — in Jesus, your identity is received, not earned: forgiven, chosen, adopted, and made new.
A new identity leads to a new walk — God can use weakness and surrender to teach you dependence on Him and transform how you live.
