No Longer on the Outside!
Matthew 2:9b-11 (NIV) When they saw the star, they were
overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with
his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped
him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him
with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
WHAT THE HIGH PRIEST DID: Represent us to God
The Jewish High Priest had one central role: To represent the
people before God, and God before the people.
WHAT JESUS CAME TO DO: Reconcile us to God
Hebrews 7:27 (NIV) Unlike the other high priests, he does not
need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own
sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for
their sins once for all when he offered himself.
WHAT IT MEANS FOR US: Access to God
Because Jesus came. Because He is our Great High Priest,
you now have full access to God.
